Block-level regeneration High signal
Slack Sarah Plummer · #feedback-ai-lessons · Jun 23, 2026
Can someone explain to me how to regenerate parts of a Lesson? I still only see regenerate the entire lesson.
Brad Rinehart confirmed not available yet. Selene Cabrera: "Targeted for 9.2 in August."
Slack Selene Cabrera · #feedback-ai-lessons · Jul 23, 2026
What is planned for October is the ability to be able to regenerate individual blocks of a lesson.
Customer Clarivate via Shayne McNally · Aug 19, 2025
Content was generated in a 2-column block that required the reader to scroll down multiple screens. Will we have the ability to manually change block types if this is the initial result?
Selene confirmed not possible yet: "In the future we will allow individual content blocks to be re-generated."
Slack Selene Cabrera · DM with Ocean Li · Sep 15, 2025
The ability to edit individual blocks with AI in AI Lesson Builder.
Andre Black requested "Edit Blocks" for the roadmap. Selene relayed the request.
Preserving manual edits High signal
Slack Jessica Peck · #feedback-ai-lessons · May 26, 2026
I don't want to regenerate the AI because I've made edits that I like, but that means I have to move the 5 components from module 5 up 20 times to rearrange.
6-module lesson, realized module order needed changing. No efficient way to rearrange without regenerating and losing edits.
Customer Smith+Nephew via Shayne McNally · Aug 29, 2025
Picking and choosing the parts I like are great, but rather than having to retype or being stuck cause I cannot add another question…
Wanted to combine best parts from multiple generations. Also couldn't add questions or change question format after generation.
Section reordering & drag-and-drop Medium signal
Slack Jessica Peck · #feedback-ai-lessons · May 26, 2026
It would be cool if you could drag & drop sections from the left hand navigation panel.
Customer PwC via Brooke Noonan · #feedback-ai-lessons · Jul 23, 2026
It would also be helpful if the Lesson Builder had a more intuitive drag-and-drop interface to make building and reorganizing lessons easier.
Return to generation parameters Medium signal
Customer Smith+Nephew via Shayne McNally · Aug 29, 2025
I would love to be able to see it generate the lesson and be able to hit go back and see what I had put for parameters and such and make any changes to my prompt, rather than start over.
Ocean replied: "This is coming in 8.12." Feature has since shipped.
Slack Jessica Peck · Team group DM · Jul 8, 2025
After you generate a lesson, if you click "Generate with AI" again it would be great if it brought up the learning objectives and content selections you already entered. Right now it just brings up a blank screen.
Source content updates Medium signal
Customer via Tash Chowdhry · #feedback-ai-lessons · Sep 9, 2025
When you create a lesson with a document but that document then gets updated 3 weeks after, you have to then recreate the AI lesson with the new content.
Customer asked if AI could "reproduce this lesson factoring in new updates." Yuchun Lee: "It'll be hard for sure, as any human editing will need to be redone… LLMs are not good enough for lights-out versioning."
Tone & style control Medium signal
Customer PwC via Brooke Noonan · Jul 23, 2026
PwC had feedback on the tone of the writing for the AI Lesson. They wanted a more polished/professional tone.
Default prompt includes humor instruction; workaround is editing company-level prompt in Admin Tool. Ocean advised isolated changes only and suggested a user-facing tone selector.
Customer Seismic switcher via Sarah Plummer · Aug 26, 2026
She wanted AI Lesson builder to generate bullets and shorter sentences (no paragraphs)… her reps prefer skimmable content.
Prospect also noted Seismic's all-in-one authoring vs. Allego's lessons-then-courses model.
Adding content after generation Medium signal
Slack Alex Woodworth · #cs_support_team · Nov 10, 2025
Am I understanding this correctly, are they trying to add new content within the AI Lesson builder?
Confirmed: "After you click Create the Lesson, you will not be able to edit the core module settings or add new documents for AI input."
Customer Smith+Nephew via Shayne McNally · Aug 29, 2025
I cannot add another question. I can add answer options and if I do not like the MCQ single answer I can rewrite it, but I cannot change question format, nor can I add another question.

Jira Enhancement Requests

27 issues · 12 relevant

From AIS/AIT projects on Ocean's Enhancement board. Filtered to AI Lesson Builder editing relevance. Issues are tiered by how directly they relate to selective editing.

Tier 1 — Directly relevant to selective editing
Key Summary Status Customers
AIS-6070 AI Lesson Builder Improvements from Deltek
The anchor issue. Covers drag-and-drop reordering, replacing brick types without delete/recreate, live preview (currently must save and generate SCORM), adjustable spacing, background/image per block, image carousels, hotspot and flip card interactions.
To Do Deltek, Evernorth, Cigna, Schwab
AIS-7307 AI Lesson Builder making questions that are misleading
"Once it creates a question, you cannot choose to change the format." Can't change question type after generation — a direct selective editing gap.
To Do 10 comments, active discussion
AIS-6912 Improve Lesson Editing with multiple owners/editors
Co-editing, locking, or commenting. Editing workflows will need to support collaboration, not just single-author editing.
To Do Beckman Coulter
AIS-5042 Auto-save for AI Lesson Builder
Baxter user lost hours of editing work when session timed out.
To Do Baxter
AIS-3971 Embedded Lesson & Module Creation

AIS-7178 Add a New Default Font in Lesson Builder To Do Omnissa

Key observations from Jira

  • AIS-6070 is the anchor issue — it explicitly requests drag-and-drop, brick replacement, and live preview. Schwab, Cigna, and Evernorth have piled on.
  • AIS-7307 reveals a specific gap: once AI generates a question type, you can't change it.
  • No existing issue specifically asks for "select a block and ask AI to rewrite just that section" — but AIS-6070's brick replacement and AIS-7307's format-change request are the closest precursors.
  • Customers with the broadest editing asks: Schwab (5+ tickets), Cigna, Deltek, Omnissa, JP Morgan PB.

Competitive Landscape

10 competitors

How competitors handle AI content generation and selective editing. Assessed across three capabilities: AI content generation, block-level selective editing, and inline AI rewrite/refine.

Competitor AI generation Selective editing Inline AI rewrite Category
Articulate Rise Yes Yes Yes L&D
Easygenerator Yes Yes Yes L&D
Showpad Yes Beta Beta Enablement
iSpring Suite AI Yes Slide-level No L&D
Seismic Yes No No Enablement
Mindtickle Yes No No Enablement
Highspot Limited No No Enablement
SC Training Yes No No L&D

Brainshark No No No Enablement
Benchmarks to design against
Articulate Rise 360 Gold standard

Two inline AI features: "Write with AI" (place cursor, type a prompt, AI generates content at that point) and "Edit with AI" (select any text, sparkle icon, choose: fix grammar, shorten, lengthen, simplify, change tone, rewrite for audience, convert to list/table, bold key terms, or custom prompt). Works wherever formatted text appears.

Block-level AI Text-selection AI Pre-built operations Custom prompts
Easygenerator Strong benchmark

Block-level "Edit with AI" from toolbar: rewrite, expand, turn into interactive elements, generate images/questions, fix grammar, change tone, summarize. Clean UX pattern: Replace / Regenerate / Cancel after each AI edit. Course Guidelines let authors upload reference files and set tone so AI output matches org standards.

Block-level AI Replace/Regenerate/Cancel Course Guidelines context
Showpad Pages Beta — closest enablement competitor

"Generate with AI" button on Text/Heading blocks. Context scope picker: choose whether AI considers "Current section," "Specific blocks," or "Whole Page." Pre-defined prompts (summarize, create headline) plus custom prompts. Currently in Beta; applies to sales-facing Pages, not training lessons.

Block-level AI Context scope picker Beta only Pages, not lessons
Direct enablement competitors — no selective editing
Seismic No evidence

Page Builder Agent drafts per-section content from org content library. Post-generation editing is manual. No inline AI rewrite.

Highspot No evidence

AI story is coaching-first (Adaptive Learning, AI Role Play, Skill Coaching), not authoring-first. Limited training content generation.

Mindtickle No evidence

Strong on generation variety (doc-to-video, doc-to-podcast, AI role play scenarios — 430% YoY AI content growth). Post-generation editing is manual.

Competitive positioning

  • Allego is behind L&D tools but on par with direct enablement competitors. Articulate and Easygenerator have mature inline AI editing. Among Seismic, Highspot, and Mindtickle, nobody has this yet. Showpad is getting there in Beta.
  • If Allego ships block-level AI editing, it's a differentiator against enablement competitors while catching up to the L&D standard set by Articulate and Easygenerator.
  • Patterns worth studying: Articulate's sparkle icon with pre-built operations + custom prompts; Easygenerator's Replace/Regenerate/Cancel flow; Showpad's context scope picker (section vs. blocks vs. whole page).
  • The trend is clear: AI content generation is table stakes in 2026. The frontier is AI-assisted refinement — inline, contextual, and granular.

Technical Context

2 notes
Architecture note · Quan Do · Apr 29, 2025
Lesson Builder is an HTML5/SCORM React app launched from the webapp. Each building block defines its own self-contained UI — markup, editable portions, CSS, and theme overrides. On save, the builder exports a SCORM zip. The lesson structure is stored as JSON describing blocks, customization, theme, and presentation medium. Subsequent edits update the JSON and media directly in S3, with the zip kept in sync for mobile offline support. The block-based JSON architecture is favorable for selective editing — individual blocks can be targeted without affecting the rest of the lesson structure.
Internal prior art · Smart Doc
Allego's Smart Doc feature already has component-level edit/regenerate functionality. Before designing the Lesson Builder editing experience, investigate how much of Smart Doc's approach can be reused — its component model, edit/regenerate UI patterns, prompt construction, and API integration. This could significantly reduce design and engineering effort. Next step: dedicated code exploration session to map Smart Doc's edit/regenerate internals and assess reusability for Lesson Builder.
